According to Hubbyfink, the installers arrived around 3pm and got right to work dismantling the leaky old windows. They finished the installation around 8pm, just after I got back home from finishing Christmas shopping for the in-laws. Installing eight windows and a sliding glass door plus cleaning up every scrap of construction detritus inside and outside the house in five hours? Awesome. The gridless windows are gorgeous. It seemed a shame to cover them back up with sheers and curtains, but well, privacy. But they're beautiful. And warm. We were able to spend a winter evening in our living room without socks and slippers. Not only was the bathroom floor not freezing, it was pretty temperate. I don't have to worry about Basil freezing to death in his windowsill catbed anymore.

Can you tell I'm delighted? I'm also wishing we'd ordered a new storm door...

Hubbyfink's still waiting on the window installers. He just got a call that they're in Annapolis and will be here at 2:30. I SERIOUSLY doubt they'll get the job done before dark, but maybe it's a large crew. We'll see. Either way, I'm heading out of the office at 4pm so Hubbyfink can use the Jeepfink to get to his audiologist appointment. He's freed the Prius from its snowy cocoon, but that car isn't making it out of our neighborhood. Plus, the installers are going to have to park in the Jeep's spot since the guest space hasn't been plowed or shoveled and is a solid 18" of snow.

I guess I'll play "Bioshock" until Hubbyfink gets back from getting his ears rewired and then I'll go shopping until the installers are done. Sounds like a very good plan to me.

We're getting new windows next Monday. Except we're not. Thompson Creek asked if they could bump us up to today. Sure! So I'm in the office early and Hubbyfink will tough out the cold temps and watch the window installation. The installers are supposed to arrive between noon and 2pm. We're skeptical that they'll finish before dark, but what do we know?

Got my final grade for the drawing class and I squeaked by with an A. My 4.0 GPA stands. Whoo hoo! Digital Visualization for Interior Design starts up January 11 and is followed by Color Theory for Print in February. My textbooks for next semester should arrive next week. Gotta fill out the new financial aid stuff.

Work is going well thus far. I've been busy taming Visio. There are more hub and network diagrams in my future. Everybody else is on vacation so it's Bossman and me against the world. We can take it.

Hubbyfink's gifts are wrapped and have been placed under the tabletop tree with care. I've ordered our Honeybaked Ham and will pick it up Wednesday (mmmm... ham). I'm going to pick up ingredients for Christmas dinner side dishes tonight.

In other news, I fired up "Bioshock" last night and played for an hour or so. I want to LOVE this game, but I don't yet. I'm getting killed too much. Maybe I shouldn't have set the difficulty at "medium". It's a pretty game, though, no argument there.

Hubbyfink expressed concern over the drift which was piling against our front door and decided to take action should we need to leave the house in a hurry. We bundled up and he shoveled the stoop and walk while I tormented the cats by pulling them into the snow. Margie and Basil were NOT pleased and immediately bolted back inside.

The snow in the yard is about 14 inches deep and the drifts next to the cars are over 20 inches. That's the height of my knees! Crazy. ) We just stuck our heads back out the front door and there's a fresh inch of snow covering everything Hubbyfink shoveled 45 minutes ago.

WOOOOOO!

There's a fairly big drift in front of the door and a foot of snow on the sidewalk. This is AWESOME! )

I have a doctor appointment today and I haven't coughed much. Of course, that could be due to finally remembering to use the humidifier in the bedroom last night. I was wonderful to wake up and not be completely parched.

Oh. Typed too soon. That was a nice barky cough.

Hubbyfink got the call from Thompson Creek: our new windows will be installed on the 28th. Whoo hoo!! No more chilly breeze through the living room. No more watching the bedroom curtains billow when the wind blows. No more FREEZING bathroom. The tax credit is icing on the cake.

Hubbyfink, bless his heart, wants to be present when the install happens. You can bet your sweet bippy that I will happily be in the cube farm while the house is open to the elements.

The last day of the semester is this coming Saturday and it can't come soon enough. I'm so thankful that I cut back my hours and am taking only two classes a semester; I'm sure I would've had more breakdowns by now. Hubbyfink's probably thankful too, even if he doesn't know it.

During the winter break, I'm going to tackle any and all outstanding Virginia exchequer issues and make sure that my ducks are in a row before the fourth quarter/year-end reporting panic starts in January. I'm also going to work up a class for Atlantia's February University (I'll have an email to you by the end of the week, [info]pinkleader). And I'm going to get into the hard-core research for my new C15 Venetian ensemble.

Or maybe I'll just kick back with "Arkham Asylum", "Bioshock", and/or "Dead Space" and rot my brain with video games.

Work is being especially hellacious this week and it's only Monday. Bossman is taking the brunt of the ugliness, bless him. On the other paw, we're going to meet the 18 December deadline for getting orders in to a vendor and that's a tick mark in the positive column. One day at a time.

Hubbyfink and I are putting a plan into place so that we can spend our seventh anniversary (May 1, 2011) in Venice. I wanted so desperately to go to Venice this coming April and attend the Renaissance Society of America's yearly meeting but we simply can't swing the cost. With a year to prepare and save, though, we'll be able to do Venezia in style.

Aside from last week's unfortunate episode after filing a nail too thin, I haven't bitten my nails since November 13. I haven't had nails since senior prom (which I then bit off when I broke up with my boyfriend). I love my nails. Basilmonster LOVES my nails and constantly wants scritches. Alright, I've kicked the nail-biting habit. Now to get my weight under control, huh.

MucinexDM for the win! The pills are the size of horse pills and taste like ass, but I'm not coughing, not wheezing, and I have my voice back. WHOO HOO!

Also, these shoes ) are the cutest things evar. Tarzhay has them in black as well. I think I will go with this shoe ) for my black ankle boot needs. Although, this one ) is pretty damn cute, too, but I didn't see it at my local Target.

While at Home Depot last night, I strolled through the garden department and drank in the aroma of evergreens. I definitely want to get real evergreen garland for the banister and an evergreen spray for the front door. I am ready to go nuts with the Christmas and winter decorations. First, though, we have to clean the house. It's frightening how badly the place falls apart when I'm down with illness for a month.
